Our office in the Netherlands has a vital role to play as we continue to develop our capabilities to meet the needs of our clients. We started in Amsterdam in 1999 with two partners and four associates. Today we have more than 60 lawyers and notaries, and every one of them has the chance to shape an impressive firm.
Our work
We provide our clients with legal advice across a broad range of capital markets, corporate, private equity, banking, notarial, employment and tax disciplines. Through changes in global markets and legislative practice, the Dutch legal market is more important than ever. We offer expertise and insight that is critical to the success of domestic deals and we work on the most important deals globally too. We are also winning acclaim in the press. In 2008, we won Cross-border Deal of the Year at the Acquisitions Monthly Awards, M&A Deal of the Year at the Legal Business Awards and Chambers awarded us European Law Firm of the Year. With our global client list and involvement in major transactions, you will be assigned to clients that are every bit as important as they are global.
Graduate opportunities
Join us as a graduate on a three-year traineeship and we will focus on giving you the tools to develop the expertise, skills and insight to take on complex work. We offer two 18-month placements (or ‘seats’) in capital markets, corporate or banking, and there are also possibilities to work within our employment, notarial and tax departments. You may be part of a team working on a deal being led from Amsterdam, or you may be co-ordinating with colleagues in other offices. In either case, you will be developing your legal technical skills and your commercial awareness to become a trusted business advisor. You will work closely with some of the most outstanding legal minds on complex, challenging and often innovative deals for important Dutch and global clients. This combination will help us to achieve our global strategy and help you to become the lawyer you’ve always wanted to be.
Internships
We believe internships provide the perfect opportunity to find out if we’re really right for each other. So, rather than a structured programme, we give you the chance to design your own internship. You will be able to tell us which legal experience is most relevant to you. Most importantly, you will have real involvement in challenging, complex and prominent deals – and you will be treated as a colleague from the outset.
